If I may give a little tip? Try being bold with the colors, experiment different coloring styles until you find one (or more) that suits you.
I'm fond of chiaroscuro, really light against really dark.
When coloring people, use yourself or the people around you to see how the shading goes.
I'm still experimenting myself, getting the shading right, but using my surroundings really helps me so...
